KEY POINTS ON LOANS
What to consider, where to check, and how to file a complaint
Information to assess a loan before taking it out, check your credit status, and know how to act in the event of difficulties or problems.
Before applying for a personal loan
The instalment is not the only important factor. Before taking out a loan, it is advisable to review how much money you will receive, how much you will repay in total, the term, the number of instalments, and the Total Financial Cost (CFT).
Check the Debtors Database
The Debtors Database is a public register with information from the last 24 months. It allows you to check the financing reported to the BCRA, who reported it, and the payment status.
If there is a problem with a loan
The channel to resolve it depends on what happened.
Problems with the loan or with the service received
In the event of issues with the loan terms, charges, collections, or the service received, the first complaint must be filed with the relevant institution or provider.
If no response is received within the established timeframe, or if the response is not satisfactory, the complaint may be filed with the BCRA.
If you do not recognize a transaction.
In the event of a movement, transaction, or loan that you do not recognize, you should immediately contact the institution or provider involved.
If there is incorrect data in the Debtors Database
If the information is out of date or contains an error, you should first check which institution or provider reported the data and which period it corresponds to.
