Correction or removal of information from the Debtors Database
Users can request before the BCRA the correction or removal of records in the Debtors Database of the Financial System.
What is it about?
It is a procedure to request the correction or removal of information published in the Debtors Database of the Financial System when the data reported by a financial institution or another credit provider is incorrect or not up to date.
According to Law 25,326 on Personal Data Protection, the request must always be submitted to the institution that originally reported the information to the BCRA.
The BCRA acts as a second instance, only if the person has already filed a claim with the reporting institution and the answer has been unsatisfactory.
The information published in the Debtors Database derives from the Monthly Accounting Reporting System – Financial System Debtors, which is regularly updated.
Who is it intended for?
The procedure is intended for:
- – Individuals who are listed as debtors in the Debtors Database of the Financial System,
- – who have identified incorrect or outdated information, and
- – have previously submitted a formal claim to the institution that reported the information without receiving a satisfactory response.
Requests will not be accepted if:
- – Submitted by a legal person, or
- – No prior claim has been filed with the reporting institution.
How to submit the request
Online only, through the web form available on this page.
In‑person or email submissions will not be accepted.
Cost
The procedure is free of charge.
Conditions for submission
Before initiating the procedure with the BCRA:
- 1. Check the reporting period published in the Debtors Database.
- 2. Check the latest month available in the Debtors Database inquiry. If the debt was repaid or brought current after the latest published period, users must wait for the next update.
- 3. Initiate the claim with the reporting institution.
- 4. File a formal claim with the bank, card issuer, or other credit provider that reported the debt.
- 5. Retain the claim number and the response provided by the institution, if any.
- 6. Collect the required documentation.
The BCRA requires the following in order to analyze the case:
- – Claim number assigned by the reporting institution;
- – Scanned copy of the ID, front and back;
- – Copy of the institution’s response to the complaint (if any);
- – Copies of the documents supporting the request (evidence of payment, refinancing agreements, communications from the institution, etc.).
Requests are processed once all the required information and documentation is submitted.
How to proceed
1. Submit a claim to the institution first
Search the Debtors Database of the Financial System and identify any information that is deemed to be inaccurate.
File a formal complaint with the institution that reported the data (bank, card issuer, or other provider), clearly describing the mistake and requesting correction or removal.
Keep the claim number and the institution’s response, if any.
2. Wait for the institution’s response
The institution must answer the request within the time period established by the regulations on financial consumer protection.
If the institution fails to do so or if the answer is unsatisfactory, the intervention of the BCRA may be requested through this procedure.
3. Collect the required documentation
Gather the following items in readable digital files (PDF or image format, as indicated in the form):
- – Number and content of the complaint submitted to the institution;
- – Copy of the identity document (front and back);
- – Copy of the institution’s response, if any;
- – Supporting documentation for the request (evidence of payment, communications, contracts, etc.).
Verify that all the documents relate to the case at hand.
4. Submit the request online to the BCRA
Access the web form for complaints related to the Debtors Database on the BCRA’s website.
Fill in your personal and contact information.
Clearly indicate:
- – The institution involved;
- – The type of product or debt;
- – The period and the information considered to be incorrect;
- – The number of the complaint submitted to the institution.
Clearly indicate the request for data correction or removal.
Attach the required documentation and submit the form.
Additional information
Debtors Database Update
The BCRA updates the Debtors Database every month.
The information for each month is published the last days of the following month (for example, March data becomes available by the end of April).
The Debtors Database displays the history of the last 24 months.
When a debt was repaid or brought current after the latest published period, users must wait for the next update before submitting a complaint.
Cases related to credit bureaus
If the event is related to incorrect information found in the databases of private credit bureaus (for example, Veraz and Nosis), the complaint must be submitted directly to those companies, as they are responsible for managing and correcting the information they publish.
