Summary
1. In the first half of 2021, the national payment system grew by 32.8%.
In the first half of 2021, more than 2,620 million retail transactions were carried out, which shows a growth of the national payment system of 32.8%, compared to the first half of 2020.
2. Transactions with immediate accreditation are strengthened in the first half of 2021.
Immediate transfers grew, in year-on-year terms (compared to the first half of 2020), by 107.7%, that is, they increased by 204 million operations.
It is worth noting the contribution of transfers to and/or to a Uniform Virtual Key (CVU) with 32.9% of the total transfers.
With a growth of 60.3%, transfer payments are one of the fastest growing instruments during the first half of 2021.
3. The cards showed notable growth compared to the first half of 2020.
With an increase of 41.2% compared to the first half of 2020 and a 29.5% share of total retail payments, debit cards continue to be the most used payment instrument by the population.
Credit card payments registered an increase of 14.2% compared to the first half of 2020, adding 59.6 million operations.
Prepaid contributed 2.9% to the absolute growth of the semester analyzed, with almost 19 million new operations. A total of 64.7 million payments were observed with this instrument, which represents an increase of 40.7% compared to the same half of 2020.
4. 40.5% of the amounts cleared correspond to checks generated by electronic means -ECHEQ-.
In the first half of 2021, 5.1 million ECHEQ were issued and 4.2 million were deposited.
On the other hand, checks cleared in the reference period have been on the rise, driven by electronic checks. In terms of amounts, the latter already reach 40.5% of the total compensated.
5. Relevant innovations: creation of the Open Circulation System (SCA) and the Central Center for Electronic Credit Invoices for MSMEs unpaid at maturity (CenFIV)
The SCA for Electronic Credit Invoices for MSMEs (FCEM) was implemented, whose main function is to register the income of the FCEMs, their transmission to third parties, assignment, guarantee, payment and other novelties on them implemented through the SCA. Since its implementation, approximately 80,000 FCEM have entered the SCA monthly.
Associated with this measure, the creation of the CenFIV is mainly aimed at exhibiting the payment behavior of debtor companies with respect to the FCE entered into the compensation.
