The BCRA is hosting a new edition of the Money and Banking Conference focused on 'Growth, Productivity, and Inflation.' The event will take place on November 16 and 17 at the Palacio Libertad and will bring together academic, financial, and central bank leaders from various countries. Participants will include, among others, Philippe Aghion, Javier Milei, Luis Caputo, Santiago Bausili, and Vladimir Werning.

The Central Bank of Argentina (BCRA) announces the 2026 Money and Banking Conference, to be held on November 16 and 17 at the Palacio Libertad.

Under the title Growth, Productivity, and Inflation, this edition will feature a presentation by 2025 Nobel Laureate in Economics Philippe Aghion, along with the participation of central bankers and leading academic and financial figures from Argentina and abroad. The event will close with remarks from the President of the Nation, Javier Milei.

In addition, BCRA President Santiago Bausili will deliver the welcoming remarks, while Vice President Vladimir Werning will be in charge of the closing conclusions.

Also taking part will be the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, and the Secretary of Economic Policy at the Ministry of Economy, José Luis Daza, who will join the panel Resolving a Sovereign Crisis: Lessons from Greece for Economies in Transformation, alongside the Governor of the Bank of Greece, Yannis Stournaras.

The conference will address the relationship between growth, productivity, and inflation, with an emphasis on the determinants of economic development and the macroeconomic conditions that underpin it. Since the elimination of macroeconomic imbalances, significant progress has been made in the stabilization process. This progress creates an opportunity to extend economic analysis to long-term fundamentals.

Panelists will examine the structural changes and modernization process currently underway in Argentina’s economy. They will highlight lessons from successful economic transitions in Greece and Australia, as well as the design and outcomes of long-term public policies in Chile and Norway. The conference will present theoretical advances on general equilibrium stability and the impact of exchange rate framework design on expectations. It will also showcase central bank perspectives on the new global landscape and the potential monetary and financial impact of technological innovations such as tokenization and AI.

Among the speakers is Philippe Aghion, winner of the 2025 Nobel Prize in Economics and professor at the Collège de France, who will give a virtual talk on innovation, barriers to entry, and the dynamics of economic growth. The academic agenda will also include presentations by Iván Werning, professor at MIT, and Fernando Álvarez, professor at the University of Chicago.

The conference will feature contributions from officials and economic policy experts, including Alberto Musalem, President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis; Alberto Naudon, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Chile; Ian Macfarlane, former Governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia; Knut Langholm, Director of Emerging Markets Debt at Norges Bank; and Martín Tobal, Director of Macrofinancial Risk Analysis at the Bank of Mexico.

The panels of economic and financial professionals will include Marcello Estevão (Managing Director and Chief Economist, Institute of International Finance), Aldo Lema (Vixion), Fernando Navajas (FIEL), Ariel Coremberg (professor, IIEP, UBA, UCEMA), Daniel Lema (UCEMA), Fernando Marengo (BlackToro Global Investments), Daniel Lerner (Orexx Partners), and Conrado Tenaglia (CZT LLC; Harvard Fellow).

Admission is free, with limited capacity, and advance registration is required. Those interested can register in the Money and Banking Conference section of the website, where the program and all event-related information are available. The event will take place at the Palacio Libertad (Sarmiento 151, CABA).
