In order to get information on the supply of certain financial services, the BCRA started to carry out surveys using the “mystery shopper” method.

Since 2016, the BCRA has issued regulations with the aim of encouraging the financial system’s modernization and deepening by boosting access to, and use of, financial services. In order to get information on the supply of certain financial services, the BCRA started to carry out surveys using the “mystery shopper” method.

This was the 5th “mystery shopper” edition in the City of Buenos Aires, which pursued the following main objective:

To repeat the survey carried out in the 2nd edition of the “mystery shopper”—December 2017—in order to evaluate the improvement, or lack of it, in the supply of the first surveyed products. For that reason, the same branches of the 2nd edition were visited.

In turn, to expand the number of surveyed banks, five new institutions were included: Banco Hipotecario, Banco Itaú, Banco Piano, Banco Columbia and Banco Industrial (BIND).
