Monthly report that analyzes the state and evolution of retail means of payment.

 

Summary

Money transfers (immediate “push” transfers) registered a growth of 106.1% YoY.

Managed by networks: more than 300 million immediate “push” transfers were made for $10.6 trillion, implying year-on-year increases of 106.1% and 35.6%, in quantities and amounts, respectively. 65.1% had a CVU as their origin and/or destination, reaching 195.2 million operations.

Intra PSPCP: intra PSPCP money remittances reached 142.9 million transactions (126.7% YoY) for $735.7 billion (81.9% YoY).

 

Transfer payments (PCT): interoperable QR exceeded 15.6 million transactions.

Interoperable PCTs: 29.9 million operations were carried out (24.6% YoY) for a total of $220 billion (-9% YoY).

-Initiated with QR: 52.2% were initiated with interoperable QRs, representing more than 15.6 million payments (219% YoY) for $71.6 billion (212% YoY). 78.8% were made by customers who used their demand accounts and 21.2% their payment accounts. Likewise, 58.8% of businesses credited demand accounts and 41.2% in payment accounts.

-Initiated at POS with card credentials: 19.2% of payments were made through the reading of debit card credentials at a point-of-sale (POS) terminal, reaching 5.7 million operations (-48.3% YoY) and $95.6 billion (-30.7% YoY).

-Initiated with random keys: 17.3% of interoperable PCTs used a token for their initiation; These are 5.2 million operations (96.7% YoY) for $31.3 billion (89.7% YoY).

-Initiated with a payment button: 11.3% originated in web operations, reaching 3.4 million payments (-37.3% YoY) and $21.5 billion. (-66.6% YoY).

PCT intra PSPCP: reached 236.3 million payments for $ 1,120.6 billion, with year-on-year growth of 121.9% in amounts and 87.1% in amounts.

-Initiated with QR: they accounted for 15.6%, with 36.9 million transactions (68.6% y.o.y.) for $158.9 billion (55.1% y.o.y.).

-Initiated on the web: they correspond to the remaining 84.4%, with 199.3 million (135.7% y.o.y.) of operations for $ 961.6 billion (93.7% y.o.y.).

 

Payment accounts and funds invested through the PSPCPs: 16 million payment accounts were registered in July with a total balance of $159.4 billion, while the balances invested in FCI of money reached $438.7 billion. Both concepts, considered together, represent 2.39% of the total deposits of the private sector, which was $ 25.1 trillion in the aforementioned month.

 

Immediate debit (DEBIN): 31 million (53.7% YoY) of operations for $567.4 billion (86.5% YoY) were registered. Of the total amounts, 0.4% corresponds to occasional DEBIN and 99.6% to recurring DEBIN.

Direct debit: 11.7 million debits (4.6% YoY) were made for $391.7 billion (-22.6% YoY), with an effectiveness rate8 that reached 56.8%.

Cheques: 65.2% of the cleared amounts correspond to ECHEQ.

5.5 million checks (physical and electronic) were cleared for a total of $4.4 trillion. ECHEQ’s share of the total number of cleared persons reached 39.8% in quantities (2.2 million electronic checks) and 65.2% in amount ($2.8 billion).

Rejections for reasons of “insufficient funds”: the ratio to the total number of compensated reached 0.60% in quantities and 0.33% in amounts.

 

Cards: the use of debit cards remains above credit cards.

Debit card: 218.8 million transactions were made for $1,353.56 billion, representing variations of 19.2% YoY in amounts and 1.7% YoY in amounts.

Credit card: year-on-year variations of 9.3% in amounts and -0.7% in amounts are observed, with 113.5 million payments being made for $1,474.3 billion.

Prepaid card: in the month of June, 20.6 million payments were made for $92.2 billion, which represents increases of 68% and 55.7% YoY, in amounts and amounts respectively.

 

Prepaid transport cards: 380.7 million trips were made (8.8% YoY) using the SUBE card, totaling $17.2 billion (37.7% YoY).

 

Electronic Invoicing for MSMEs (FCEM): in the month of analysis, 87.4% of the operations were carried out in pesos, entering the open circulation system (SCA) 99.8 thousand invoices for $ 334.6 billion.

ATM withdrawals: 92 million withdrawals were made from the 17,464 ATMs for a total of $1.4 billion, with the average number of withdrawals at each ATM being 5,268. The average withdrawal amount reached $15.7k.
