This monthly report presents the status, outlook and evolution of retail means of payment in the country.
Summary
Immediate “push” transfers: more than half of the transactions involve a Uniform Virtual Key (CVU).
145.6 million immediate transfers were made for $3.5 trillion, which translates into year-on-year growth of 105.6% and 29.7%, in quantities and amounts respectively.
52.3% of the total had a CVU4 as its origin and/or destination, reaching 76.2 million operations.
Transfer payments (PCT): Interoperable QR continues to gain share.
Interoperable PCTs: reach 23.1 million operations (52.2% YoY) for a total of $105.9 billion (0.6% YoY).
Initiated with QR: 17.4% were initiated with interoperable QRs, representing more than 4.0 million payments. 82% were made by customers who used their demand accounts and only 18% their payment accounts. On the other hand, 49.5% of merchants credited payment accounts and 50.5% in demand accounts.
POS starters with card credentials: 48.0% of payments were made through the reading of card credentials at a point-of-sale (POS) terminal, reaching 11.1 million
operations.
Initiated with random keys: 2.6 million of transactions used a token to initiate them (11.4%). ▪ Initiated with a payment button: 14.9% originated from web transactions, reaching 2.9 million payments.
PCT intra6 PSPCP: reached 106.5 million payments for $ 280.6 billion, figures that reached the highest level in the series, with year-on-year growth of 194.6% in quantities and 160.4% in amounts. 79.4% were initiated on the web and 20.6% with the reading of a QR code.
Immediate debit (DEBIN): immediate debits experienced a slight contraction compared to the previous month (monthly variation of -4.0% in amounts), reaching 20.2 million operations for $135.6 billion at present.
Direct debit: the direct debit effectiveness indicator measures the ratio of transactions submitted to clearing against those credited to company accounts. With an effectiveness of 43.4%, it maintains the recovery of this instrument.
Cheques: 56.1% of the amounts cleared corresponded to ECHEQ.
5.5 million checks (physical and electronic) totaling $1.9 trillion were cleared, reaching a new high in the series. ECHEQ’s share of the total number of cleared persons reached 30.9% in quantities (1.7 million electronic checks) and 56.1% in amount ($1,121 billion).
Rejections for reasons of “insufficient funds”: a slight increase was observed both in quantities and amounts. However, the relationship with the total number of compensated continues to show stable rates, of 0.6% in quantities and 0.6% in amounts.
Cards: debit card transactions are almost twice as large as credit card transactions.
Debit card transactions reached 183.6 million for $623 billion, representing growth of 21.7% YoY in amounts and 12.3% YoY in amounts.
In credit operations, positive year-on-year variations of 2.3% in amounts and 8.6% in amounts were observed, making 92.6 million payments for $633.9 billion.
Prepaid transport cards: 349.8 million trips were made (52.8% YoY), using the SUBE card, totaling $5.8 billion (-1.3% YoY).
