Report on the evolution of loans granted by non-financial institutions and the profile of those who access them.
Summary
The total number of people who accessed financing from Non-Financial Credit Providers (NFCPs) continued to increase in the second half of 2022 and reached 10.1 million, 4% more than in June 2022, according to the Non-Financial Credit Providers Report published today by the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic.
This increase in access to financing implied the incorporation of around 216,000 women and 148,000 men in the second half of the year. Women continue to have the highest participation, reaching 5.3 million in December 2022, while men total 4.8 million.
For its part, the number of assists reached a record figure of 14.7 million, while the average debt per assistance decreased 7% in real terms in the period.
As for the irregularity of the PNFC portfolio, it registered a decrease compared to June 2022 to reach 12% last December.
Other highlights of the Non-Financial Credit Providers Report:
Number of PNFCs. The number of registered Non-Financial Credit Providers (NFCPs) reached 456 companies in March 2023, increasing by 5 companies compared to August 2022. The registration of Other Non-Financial Credit Providers (OPNFC) reached 385 companies, while that of Non-Bank Credit Card Issuers (ETCNB) reached 114 companies.
Evolution of financing amounts by subgroups of suppliers. The different PNFC groups experienced reductions in their financing balances in real terms in the second half of the year, with the exception of the Fintech group, which grew slightly (+2%). The Leasing & Factoring, Cooperatives and mutuals, Other providers, Other retail chains and Sale of household appliances groups showed reductions of 12%, 11%, 5%, 4% and 3%, respectively.
Number of debtors by type of person, gender and age range. Unlike previous periods, the growth in the number of people with financing (360,000 people between June and December 2022) was mainly explained by individual customers (PH) shared with financial institutions (EEFF). They had the largest six-month increase (adding around 260,000 people and reaching 4.8 million at the end of last December).
The three age ranges (up to 29 years old, 30-64 and +65 years old) verified increases in the absolute number of people with assistance. However, the 30-64 age group was the one that grew the most with around 207,000 new people (3% in the second half of the year), followed by the up to 29 age group with about 144,000 people (7% in the first half of the year).
Financing balances by type of person and gender. PHs with debt in EEFF continue to represent the largest share of the total balance (58% in December 2022), reaching $601,500 million in the last month of the year.
In relation to gender, it is the shared men and women who have the largest participation in the PNFC portfolio, reaching $300,000 million and $289,000 million in the last month of the year, respectively.
