Argentine and foreign plastic artists—having a two-year minimum residency in Argentina—are invited to take part in the new edition of the award, which promotes and disseminates Argentine contemporary art in agreement with the technical and conceptual expansion of art both at the domestic and international levels.
In each edition, an itinerant exhibition with the selected and awarded works travels across the country, thus encouraging the relationship with the community. The exhibition also showcases the work awarded the Great Prize for Distinguished Artists, a category that recognizes renowned Argentine artists that contribute to the country’s culture and identity. Starting in 2008, this prize has been given to Carlos Alonso, León Ferrari, Gyula Kosice, Julio Le Parc, Luis Felipe Noé, Liliana Porter, Alejandro Puente, Marcia Schvartz and Luis Tomasello.
