The “Héctor Carlos Janson” Historical and Numismatic Museum of the Central Bank presents the exhibition “Designs and Rarities in the First Patriotic Coins”, an exhibition dedicated to the coins minted in 1813 and 1815 by the United Provinces of the Río de la Plata.
The exhibition is organized around the numismatic designs, variants and rarities of these pieces, which are part of the Museum’s collection. Each copy is a testimony of the years of the War of Independence, when the minting of coins not only fulfilled an economic function, but also expressed an act of sovereignty.
The exhibition is held within the framework of the 85th anniversary of the Central Bank Museum, founded on May 31, 1941 as the first public museum dedicated exclusively to Argentine numismatics. Throughout its history, the Museum has established itself as a reference space for the conservation, research and dissemination of Argentine numismatic heritage.

The exhibition can be visited in the hall on the ground floor of the Central Bank Museum, located at San Martín 216, Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, from Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
