The BCRA signed an agreement with Universidad Nacional del Comahue and Banco Provincia del Neuquén to promote financial education and inclusion

The Governor of the BCRA, Miguel Pesce, signed a cooperation agreement on financial education with Universidad Nacional del Comahue and Banco Provincia del Neuquén.

The Governor of the BCRA, Miguel Pesce; the Vice Chancellor of Universidad Nacional del Comahue (UNCo), Fernando Paul Osovnikar; and the President of Banco Provincia del Neuquén (BPN), Néstor Aníbal Pizzi; have signed an agreement on financial education aimed at strengthening and promoting financial education so as to boost economic development with social equity through the inclusion of the most vulnerable social sectors.

This agreement will serve to expand training programs aimed at teachers and students from Universidad Nacional del Comahue, and to execute educational actions aimed at retirees and pensioners, social security beneficiaries, and informal workers in the provinces where the UNCo is located.

The agreement provides for the signing of supplementary arrangements between the Financial Regulations Deputy General Management Office of the BCRA, the School of Economics of the UNCo, and the General Management Office of the BPN for the development and implementation of financial education actions.

Mariela Martínez, Dean of the School of Economics and Management at the UNCo; Carola Pogliano, General Manager; Silvina De Luca, Head of Inclusion and Diversity; and Analía Orbanich, representative from the Inclusion and Diversity team at the BPN were also present. On behalf of the BCRA, the following officers attended the meeting: Daniela Bossio, Financial Regulations Deputy General Manager; Gastón Repetto, Financial Inclusion Senior Manager; and Mariano Iglesias, Financial Education Manager. This agreement is part of the actions taken by the BCRA to boost financial education. The following actions are also highlighted:

• 9,900 teachers registered in the “Financial Education in the Classroom” program, who annually teach the financial education contents developed by the BCRA to more than 900,000 students. Also, the students shared these contents with more than 92,000 people from their community and families.

• During 2022 and 2023, the BCRA together with different organizations delivered four training modules for teachers from all over the country, within the framework of the National Ongoing Training Program “Our School” of the National Institute for Teacher Training (Argentine Ministry of Education). A total of 9,528 teachers participated in these courses.

• The BCRA trained more than 2,700 representatives from different provinces and 975 young entrepreneurs from technical schools of the province of Santa Fe through the “Finance Nearby” educational program between 2021 and 2023. Training reached different vulnerable sectors of the population. By 2022, nearly 2,100 people have benefited from this training program.

• With the support of the Argentine Institute of Public Administration and the Ministry of Women, Gender and Diversity, around 3,000 employees of the national and provincial public administrations have participated in financial training programs integrating the gender and LGTBQ+ perspective.

• Between 2021 and 2023, the BCRA took part in Tecnópolis with different stands offering ludic proposals on inclusion and financial education, and 120,300 people attended and participated in the different activities.
