The BCRA opens the call for the 18th edition of the “Dr. Raúl Prebisch” Economic Research Award

The deadline for receipt of works is September 30, 2026. The Prize is an initiative aimed at promoting research of excellence in monetary, macroeconomic, financial and banking topics.

The Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (BCRA) invites university students, young professionals and graduates with doctoral theses in Economics to participate in the 18th edition of the “Dr. Raúl Prebisch” Annual Economic Research Award. The deadline for receipt of works is September 30, 2026. The Award is an initiative of the BCRA aimed at promoting research of excellence in monetary, macroeconomic, financial and banking topics, and to strengthen the link between the institution and the academic community.

Contestants must complete a registration form and submit their works through the BCRA website, section “About the Bank / Annual Economic Research Award”, following the instructions of the application intended for this purpose. The award-winning studies will be published on the BCRA’s website and may be submitted for consideration for publication in the BCRA’s journal Ensayos Económicos.
The topics for the “University Students” and “Young Professionals” awards must be circumscribed to aspects related to the themes of central banks: monetary, banking, payments, exchange, financial or macroeconomic issues, both theoretical and empirical, applied to the Argentine or international economy. For the “Doctoral Theses”, priority will be given to works whose topics – local or international, theoretical or empirical – are of relevance, relevance and originality in relation to the objectives of the BCRA.

The categories qualified to participate are:

  • University Students: students of university careers in the area of economics or related, both from public and private universities throughout the country.
  • Young Professionals: professionals with no more than five years of graduates in economics or related careers.
  • Doctoral Thesis: PhD thesis in Economics approved between 2020 and 2026.

 

The jury of this edition is composed of Vladimir Werning (BCRA), Mauro Luis Alessandro (BCRA), Sebastián Katz (BCRA – University of Buenos Aires) and Laura D’Amato (University of Buenos Aires – University of the Center for Macroeconomic Studies of Argentina).
