The three selected targeted research projects will last two years. The results will be published in the "Ensayos Económicos" journal of the BCRA.

The BCRA and the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas, CONICET) disclosed the selected 2023-2024 targeted research projects (proyectos de investigación orientada, PIOs), within the framework of the scientific-technological agreement signed by both institutions.

The agreement seeks to encourage research on topics related to the purpose and functions of the BCRA, and to develop synergies among experts in different economic areas and other relevant sciences that may contribute to economic development with equality.

The selected targeted research projects will last two years. The results of the research will be published in the Ensayos Económicos (Economic Essays) journal of the BCRA.

An ad hoc commission made up of BCRA and CONICET members—with federal representation and gender equality—was responsible for assessing the projects. The potential for transfer and the creation of multidisciplinary teams were valued.

The selected 2023-2024 targeted research projects consolidate the joint work of the BCRA and the CONICET that started last year after the first selection.

The cooperation agreement—signed in October 2021—is in line with the BCRA´s objective of boosting the development and dissemination of research on monetary, macroeconomic, financial, and banking issues in Argentina.

The selected 2023-2024 targeted research projects are:

El impacto de la gestión de la deuda externa subnacional en la restricción externa Argentina (The impact of subnational external debt management on Argentina's foreign restriction), led by Alejandro Gabriel Manzo (CONICET – Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (UNC)).

El impacto de la reconfiguración de la AFI en la transición verde y sus efectos sobre los flujos de capital, regulaciones financieras, financiamiento, producción energética y mercado laboral para las economías en desarrollo y para la economía argentina (The impact of the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI) reconfiguration on the green transition and its effects on capital flows, financial regulations, financing, energy production and the labor market for developing economies and the Argentine economy), led by Demián Tupac Panigo (CONICET – Universidad Nacional de La Plata (UNLP)).

Desafíos de la Banca de Desarrollo: los segmentos no incluidos en el enfoque tradicional (Challenges for development banks: segments not included in the traditional approach), led by Lisana Belén Martínez (CONICET – Universidad Nacional del Sur (UNS)).
