Nobel Prize winner in economics Thomas Sargent visited the BCRA

The Governor of the BCRA held a meeting with Thomas Sargent to discuss the economic situation of Argentina and the world, and to analyze the BCRA's latest monetary policy measures.

Lucas Llach, Deputy Governor of the BCRA; Demian Reidel, Member of the Board; Mariano Flores Vidal, General Manager; Andrés Neumeyer, Economic Research Deputy General Manager; and Agustín Collazo, Operations Deputy General Manager, also participated in the meeting. Sargent also exchanged ideas about the BCRA’s forecasting methods with the Economic Research Deputy General Management Office.

Thomas Sargent is one of the most prominent macroeconomists.

He received the Nobel Prize in Economics together with Christopher Sim in 2011. Thomas Sargent holds a PhD in Economics from Harvard University. He has lectured at renowned universities in the United States and is currently a professor at New York University. His contributions to understanding the dynamic nature of economies and the crucial role of expectations in the macroeconomic performance have been and still are enormous, as well as his contributions to understanding the importance of fiscal sustainability for price stability.
