The Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (BCRA) has developed new tools to streamline calculations using the Interest Rate for Court Use. A Calculator that simplifies the task of interest calculations is already available on the institutional website. Additionally, the hyperlinks related to the Interest Rate for Court Use were updated to improve their access and availability, and this rate was included in the API for Main Variables.
The Calculator allows users to calculate the corresponding interest based on the start date, the end date for which interest is calculated, and the initial amount on which the interest should be calculated.
The API—an interface that enables interaction between software programs and applications—efficiently makes this rate series accessible, according to the best available technology, for the people and institutions that use it.
The BCRA has been preparing and publishing the Interest Rate for Court Use since 1991, as established by Press Release P 14290. This rate was originally set in accordance with the regulations defined in Executive Order 941/91, and currently falls within the provisions of Section 768 of the Civil and Commercial Code of Argentina.
This rate is calculated based on the yields of time deposits and interest-bearing savings accounts and has consistently reflected the existing economic situation at each considered moment for a period of more than 30 years.
