Luis Caputo, Governor of the BCRA, took part in the last conference of the XXXIX Annual Congress organized by the Argentine Institute of Finance Executives (Instituto Argentino de Ejecutivos en Finanazas, IAEF), “The way towards a reliable country”.
The most valuable remarks are as follows:
“We are heading toward a smoother and calmer scenario, not only in the foreign exchange market but also in the bond and in the stock exchange markets.”
“Today, the world is eager to witness Argentina’s success and we should make the most of this enthusiasm.”
“This will not be the medium and long-term interest rate; today’s interest rate is the result of the turbulence we are going through.”
“We should develop our own capital market. As long as we do not achieve this goal, we will be dependent on the foreign market and be exposed to external shocks.”
“Financial inclusion is the future. At the BCRA, we are working to turn this idea into facts.”
“At present, we are witnessing inflationary inertia, devaluation pass-through and relative price readjustment. It will be a gradual process, but we should not doubt that inflation will steadily go downward.”
