Health emergency: charges suspended to operate at ATMs

Thursday, March 26, 2020

The measure applies to all users, whether or not they are customers of the banks.

The Board of Directors of the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic, through communication A6945, established that financial institutions may not charge charges or commissions for operations (deposits, withdrawals, consultations, etc.) carried out through all ATMs enabled and operated by them in the country. This provision will be in force until June 30, 2020 inclusive.

The measure aims to get people to circulate the minimum necessary to contribute to the social isolation ordered by the National Executive Branch to contain the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.

There will be no limits on the amount – except for those expressly agreed for security reasons or resulting from operational restrictions – or on the number of withdrawals. Nor shall there be any distinction between customers and non-customers, regardless of the type of demand account on which the transaction is made.
