The President of the BCRA, Guido Sandleris, participated in the meeting of Finance Ministers and Central Bank Presidents of the G20 in Fukuoka, Japan, from June 8 to 9.
During the meeting, Sandleris together with Finance Minister Nicolás Dujovne, also held bilateral meetings with Taro Aso, Japan’s finance minister, and Haruhiko Kuroda, governor of the Central Bank of Japan. In turn, they met with Christine Lagarde and David Lipton (IMF); with Thomas Jordan, president of the Swiss National Bank and with Jens Weidmann, governor of the Bundesbank.
The Fukuoka meeting was attended by authorities from the Ministries of Finance and Central Bank Governors of the G7 countries (Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States), Argentina, Australia, Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and Turkey, among others, as well as representatives of multilateral organizations.
The G20 provides a forum for key countries in the international financial system to discuss major international economic issues and coordinate to achieve stable and sustainable growth in the global economy.
