BCRA clarification to users of bank checking accounts

Clarification from the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (BCRA) to users holding bank checking accounts.

The Central Bank of the Argentine Republic clarifies to the holders of a bank checking account that:

  • Fines for rejected checks are SUSPENDED until 06/30/2020 inclusive.
  • The closure of accounts and disqualifications to operate in a current account until the same date is also suspended.
  • Regardless of their rejection date, rejected checks are displayed in the Debtors Central / Rejected Checks Central managed by this Central Bank.
  • Only checks canceled within 15 calendar days of the date of rejection will be cancelled; when the bank communicates the cancellation, for which it has 10 calendar days.
  • Any other bounced check that does not meet this condition continues to be disseminated, even if it has been canceled.
