The Governor of the BCRA, Miguel Ángel Pesce, held a videoconference with representatives of the agriculture industry. He assured that there is no reason for herbicide and fertilizer providers to set the prices of the products they sell in the domestic market based on an exchange rate other than the official one.
He told farm leaders that he would meet with the heads of the most outstanding agricultural suppliers in order to know if they are facing any difficulties to access the forex market.
He also let them know about the upcoming launch of time deposits pegged to the dollar price offered by Banco Nación to agricultural producers settling the proceeds from their exports of crops. This kind of variable interest rate deposits, known as DIVA, seeks to guarantee the value in foreign currency of the production sold.
Sergio Woyecheszen, Deputy Governor of the BCRA, and Julián Echazarreta, Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, also participated in the videoconference.
Representing the agriculture industry, Carlos Achetoni and Elvio Guia (Federación Agraria Argentina), Carlos Iannizzotto and Norberto Niclis (Coninagro), Jorge Chemes and Gabriel De Raedemaeker (Confederaciones Rurales Argentinas), and Daniel Pelegrina and Carlos Vila Moret (Sociedad Rural Argentina) were also present.
