The Argentine flag and its creator
Thematic selection of pieces
In the Central Bank Museum you can find pieces related to our patriotic symbols and influential personalities for the country. Among them, here we share those that commemorate the national flag and its creator, Manuel Belgrano.
Manuel Belgrano was born in Buenos Aires on June 3, 1770. He was an economist, journalist, politician, lawyer and soldier from the River Plate. He created the Argentine flag on February 27, 1812, in Rosario, during the deed for the independence of the United Provinces of the Río de la Plata.
In the country we commemorate the creation of this patriotic symbol on June 20, a national holiday and holiday also dedicated to its creator, who died on that day in 1820.*
