Bicentennial of the May Revolution
The series of commemorative circulation coins of $1 alluding to the Bicentennial of the May Revolution comprises five (5) versions that evoke different geographical regions of our country, in order to grant a federal sense to the issue.
This Bicentennial series preserves the characteristics of the $1 coin of the peso line, integrating the current circulating currency, which gives it the character of a means of payment.
The designs of these numismatic pieces were made by the Treasury Planning and Control Management – Sub-management of Control, Design and Numismatics of this Institution.
Of the total number of pieces minted, 75,000 units made up 15,000 cases, each containing five coins with images of the landscapes “Pucara de Tilcara”, “El Palmar”, “Aconcagua”, “Mar del Plata” and “Glaciar Perito Moreno”, representative of the Northwest, Northeast, Cuyo, Pampeana and Patagonian regions of our country.

Obverse motif
Core: Presents images of landscapes with their identification “PUCARA DE TILCARA”, “EL PALMAR”, “ACONCAGUA”, “MAR DEL PLATA”, “GLACIAR PERITO MORENO”.
Ring: “REPÚBLICA ARGENTINA” is inscribed in the upper arc and “BICENTENARIO” in the lower arc.
Motif on the back
Core: The representation of the rising sun is observed as a symbol of our country in constant growth. It evokes the 200 years of the May Revolution through the inscription of the years “1810-2010”. In its upper part, the face value “1 PESO” is appreciated.
Ring: In its lower arc reads “EN UNIÓN Y LIBERTAD” and in the upper arc “2010”, year of minting.

On the upper arch is the legend “EN UNIÓN Y LIBERTAD”, and below the year of minting “2010” and the face value “1 PESO”.
