Obverse motif

Core: It presents, in the upper part, the Phrygian cap as a symbol of freedom, supported by the pike, representing the defense of the homeland. The allegory is completed by the intertwined hands, an expression of the union and brotherhood of the peoples of the United Provinces of the Río de la Plata. In the upper field, in heraldic language, the patriotic colors through a horizontal line, the light blue; and white, with a smooth lower field.

Ring: “ARGENTINE REPUBLIC” is inscribed on the upper arch, and on the lower arch “1816 *INDEPENDENCIA* 2016” in allusion to the Bicentennial of Argentine Independence.

Motif on the back

Nucleus: On the left, the face value and the word “PESOS” can be seen vertically arranged. The composition closes with a stylization of the sun on the epaulette of the military uniform belonging to General Don José de San Martín.

Ring: On the upper arch, the motto “IN UNION AND FREEDOM”, used since the first national coins minted by the Assembly in the year XIII during the War of Independence. Above the lower arch, the year of minting “2016”, on its right an 8-point graph.
