“Dr. Raúl Prebisch” Economic Research Annual Award | 18th edition, 2026

University students, young professionals, and professionals with a PhD thesis in Economics are called to participate in the BCRA’s 18th edition of the “Dr. Raúl Prebisch” Economic Research Annual Award.

The initiative seeks to promote research on topics related to central banking and strengthen the BCRA’s link with the academic community.

Who can participate

University Students

Students of university careers in the area of economics or related, both from public and private universities throughout the country, who present a regular student certificate, and whose degree has not been issued by May 31, 2026, may participate.

Young Professionals

Graduates in Economics or related studies from universities in Argentina are eligible to participate.
Applicants must have obtained their first undergraduate degree after May 31, 2021.

PhD Thesis

Professionals with a PhD Thesis in Economics approved between 2020 and 2026 may apply if they were:

– approved by universities in Argentina; or;
– approved by universities abroad, provided they were submitted by Argentine citizens.

These criteria correspond to the specific conditions established for each category in the 2026 edition.

Topics

The papers in the University Students and Young Professionals categories must address any of the following topics:

– Monetary issues
– Banking issues
– Payment systems and methods
– Foreign exchange issues
– Financial issues
– Macroeconomics

Papers may be either theoretical or empirical, and may focus on the Argentine or the international economy.

In the PhD Thesis category, priority will be given to papers that are relevant, pertinent and original in relation to the objectives of the BCRA.

Documents Required

University Students

Applicants shall upload a copy of:
– Their identity document (DNI)
– A certificate—issued no more than two weeks before the date of registration—showing that they are regular students
– Their academic transcript

Young Professionals

Applicants shall upload a copy of:
– Their identity document (DNI)
– Their university degree certificate or proof of pending degree certificate
– Their academic transcript

PhD Thesis

Applicants shall upload a copy of:
– Their Identity document (DNI)
– Any necessary documents to show that their thesis has been completed and passed

The BCRA may request that applicants submit any supplementary or clarifying documents to ensure their compliance with the requirements.

2. Prepare your submission

The paper must comply with the originality, formatting, and anonymity requirements established for the contest.

3. Collect the required documentation

Prepare the documentation required for the selected category in image or PDF format.

4. Complete the registration process

The registration form shall be completed with the applicants’ personal data, pseudonym, category and required documentation. The form will also include an affidavit regarding:

– Accuracy of the information and documents submitted
– Acceptance of the terms and conditions
– Compliance with academic integrity standards
– Use of the declared pseudonym

5. Paper submission

The registration form, any documentation and the paper must be submitted through the application available on the BCRA’s website.
