Uniform Virtual Key (CVU)

What is it?

It is a 22-digit code that facilitates interoperability between users of Payment Service Providers (PSPs) and the financial system.

As in the CBU, each CVU is unique, depending on the combination of data that composes it: the first block (from digit 1 to 8) identifies the PSP to which it belongs and the second block (from digit 9 to 22) identifies the user.

What is it for?

The CVU allows the identification of PSP users, such as providers of electronic wallets, prepaid cards, among others. Its implementation will provide greater interoperability and financial inclusion, since those people who do not have a bank account but are users of a PSP, will be able to receive or make electronic payments from/to people with a bank account.

How can I get it?

You can request the CVU from your Payment Service Provider (PSP).
