Custom Statistical Series Queries

This service allows access to historical statistical series of the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic in standardized TXT format, designed for use in large databases and information systems. Each file brings together the historical records of a set of homogeneous monetary and financial series, making it easy to download, process, and reuse.

File Format

The series are presented in plain text files with a uniform structure:

‘serial code; dd/mm/yyyy; value of the series’

The semicolon (‘;’) is the field separator used. This design facilitates the automated reading of information and its integration with data analysis tools, spreadsheets, programming languages and statistical information systems.

Catalog of statistical series

The statistical series catalog allows you to identify the code of each series and consult its metadata (description, unit of measurement, periodicity, temporal coverage and source), to quickly locate the series of interest before downloading the corresponding TXT files.

The catalogue is presented in two formats:

File in TXT format

It contains, for each data series identified with a number, the detail of the name of the series, the methodological notes and its periodicity (version updated until 2021).

File in Excel format

It allows you to filter the information using different criteria to speed up the search for series. Columns are added to the information present in the TXT file that specify particular attributes of each series.
Attributes are complementary to each other: it is necessary to consider together the characteristics detailed in each column to obtain a precise definition of each variable.

Monetary and financial overview (monthly series)

It contains information on:

– BCRA’s international reserves (gold, foreign currency, term placements and others), with balances at the end of the month and monthly average of daily balances, in millions of US dollars.
– Monetary aggregates, with balances at the end of the month, in thousands of pesos.
– Main liabilities of the BCRA, with monthly averages of daily balances, in millions of pesos.
– Money and credit, with balances at the end of the month, in millions of pesos.
– Interest rates, with monthly averages expressed as an annual nominal percentage.

Money and credit (balances)

It includes information on balance sheets, liquidity regulation, reserves and main items of assets and liabilities of the financial system:

Consolidated balance sheets and liquidity regulation

– Consolidated balance sheet of the financial system, BCRA balance sheet, consolidated balance sheet of financial institutions and consolidated balance sheet of banks, with balances at the end of the month, in thousands of pesos.
– Information on future operations and the status of debtors.
– Turnover speed of national currency deposits (monthly series).
– Information related to the BCRA’s liquidity regulation regulations, including deposits and other obligations subject to such regulations, monthly average daily balances in thousands of pesos, and requirements.
