In September, remittances (immediate “push” transfers) reported a growth in amounts of 23.5% YoY

In pesos: 649.2 million transactions were registered for $ 70.2 billion, which imply year-on-year increases of 23.5% and 22.8% in amounts and in real amounts, respectively. 75.8% of the transactions had a CVU as their origin and/or destination.

In foreign currency: 2.1 million operations were registered (27.2% YoY) for USD 3,393.4 million (37% YoY in currency of origin).

Money inflows (immediate “pull” transfers) reached 37.7 million transactions in September

37.7 million transfers were made for $ 3.3 billion, representing a decrease of -1.6% in amounts and an increase of 24.9% in real amounts.

QR interoperable wire transfer payments (PCTs) totaled 71.6 million transactions

72.8 million PCT operations were carried out (44% YoY), for a total of $1.41 trillion (56.6% YoY in real terms -deflated by CPI-).

QR:

– 98.2% of PCTs were initiated with QR codes, representing 71.6 million payments (54.3% YoY) for $1.38 trillion (71.7% YoY in real terms). 55.6% were made by customers who used their demand accounts (CBU) and 44.4% their payment accounts (CVU). For their part, 58.1% of the transactions were credited to payment accounts, while the remaining 41.9% were channeled to demand accounts.

Currently, 78 interoperable digital wallets and 55 PCT acceptors are registered with the BCRA.

With random keys:

– 1.8% used a token for the start of PCTs; These are 1.3 million operations (-69.5% YoY) for $35.1 billion (-64.6% YoY in real terms).

Payment accounts and funds invested through PSPCPs

In August, out of a total of 55.3 million payment accounts, 12.1 million had a balance totaling $0.5 trillion pesos. For its part, the balances invested in FCI of money reached $ 5.5 trillion in the same month. Considered together, both concepts represented 6.3% of the total deposits in pesos of the private sector. A total of 194 PSPCPs are currently included in the Register of Payment Service Providers.

Direct debit

In September, 11.9 million direct debits were made (-2.4% YoY) for a total of $1.7 trillion (growth of 8.8% YoY in real terms). The effectiveness rate reached 44.4%.

Checks. 81.8% of the amounts compensated in September corresponded to ECHEQ

5.3 million checks (physical and electronic) were cleared for a total of $20.3 billion. ECHEQ’s share of the total number of cleared persons reached 58.9% in quantities (3.1 million electronic checks) and 81.8% in amounts ($16.6 billion).

Rejections for reasons of “insufficient funds”: the ratio to the total number of compensated reached 1.7% in quantities and 1.4% in amounts.

Cards. The use of credit cards surpassed debit cards.

Debit: 178 million transactions were made for $ 4.7 trillion in August (latest available data), with variations of -15.3% y.o.y. in amounts and -13.5% y.o.y. in real amounts.

Credit: year-on-year increases of 9% in amounts and 5% in real amounts were observed, making 180.4 million payments for $9.4 trillion. The most used channels were POS and QR which represented 39.1% of the total amount, e-commerce with 37% and automatic debit with 14.2%. Interoperable QR reached 4.3% of all credit cards. For its part, the one-payment modality represented 87% in amounts and 64% in amounts of total credit card operations.

Prepaid card: 34.1 million payments were made for $ 0.59 billion, which represents increases of 23.4% and 18.6% y.a., in real amounts and amounts respectively.

Prepaid Transportation Cards

351.2 million trips were made (-10.6% YoY) through the SUBE card, totaling $0.15 trillion (growth of 3.7% YoY in real terms).

Travel with QR

Under the VQR modality, 4.6 million trips were made in August, totaling $4.7 billion.

Electronic Invoicing for MSMEs (FCEM)

In the month of analysis, 87% of the operations were carried out in pesos, entering the open circulation system (SCA) 67.6 thousand invoices for $ 1.4 trillion.

Extractions

90% of withdrawals were made from ATMs.

ATMs: in August (latest available data) 52.8 million withdrawals were made from the 17,622 available ATMs for a total of $4 billion, with approximately 3,000 being the average number of withdrawals at each ATM in the month. The average withdrawal amount reached $76.1k.

Extrabank withdrawals with debit card: 3.7 million withdrawals for $0.2 billion, with an average amount of $59.1 thousand.

Extrabank withdrawals from intra PSPCP (“closed loop”) payment accounts: 2 million withdrawals for $0.1 billion, with an average amount of $55.1 thousand.
