This quarterly report analyses the evolution of the external debt of the private sector, with an opening at the level of the main debt instruments.

The external debt of the private sector totaled USD 78,882 million as of 30.09.20, registering a quarterly fall of USD 1,239 million, explained by a decrease in both commercial external debt (USD 816 million) and financial debt (USD 423 million).

The external debt for exports of goods totaled USD 4,994 million as of 09/30/20, showing a quarterly decrease of USD 670 million and USD 3,028 million compared to the same period of the previous year, basically explained by the “Manufacture of food products” sector with quarterly cancellations of around USD 305 million, and year-on-year USD 2,140 million.

External debt for imports of goods totaled USD 22,297 million at the end of the third quarter of 2020, showing a net cancellation of USD 317 million compared to the end of the previous quarter and USD 2,232 million compared to the same time last year.

External debt for services totaled USD 7,563 million as of 09/30/20, showing an increase of USD 172 million compared to the end of the previous quarter and USD 1,009 million compared to 09/30/19, explained by a quarterly increase of USD 271 million and a year-on-year increase of USD 798 million with related creditors, while the position of unrelated creditors registered a quarterly decrease of USD 100 million. but a year-on-year increase of USD 211 million).

The external financial debt totaled USD 44,028 million as of 09/30/20, with a quarterly fall of USD 423 million and USD 1,816 million in year-on-year terms. The main type of operation was financial loans, with a position of USD 26,007 million, followed by securities (with a stock of USD 16,044 million) and other financial debts with a balance of USD 1,977 million.
