Quarterly report on the evolution of the external debt of the private sector.

The external debt of the private sector totaled USD 106,815 million as of 31.03.24, registering a quarterly increase of USD 2,408 million. This increase was explained by both commercial debt of USD 1,486 million and financial debt of USD 922 million. In the year-on-year comparison, external debt showed an increase of USD 18,487 million, explained by the increase in commercial debt partially offset by financial debt cancellations.

The commercial external debt of the private sector totaled USD 66,224 million as of 31.03.24. External debt for exports of goods totaled USD 6,722 million in the quarter, showing a decrease of USD 337 million compared to 31.12.23 and USD 1,459 million in the year-on-year comparison.

The external debt for imports of goods totaled USD 46,434 million as of 31.03.24, with an increase of USD 1,851 million in the quarter and USD 15,450 million in the year-on-year comparison. On the other hand, external debt for services reached USD 13,068 million as of 31.03.24, with a decrease of USD 28 million compared to the previous quarter and accumulating an increase of USD 2,096 million in year-on-year terms.

The external financial debt of the private sector totaled USD 40,952 million as of 03/31/24, with an increase of USD 922 million in the quarter, while in the year-on-year comparison net cancellations of USD 519 million were recorded. The increase in the quarter was explained by financial loans for USD 361 million, debt securities for USD 319 million and “Other financial debt” for USD 243 million.
