The XI National Painting Prize of the Central Bank 2018 visits Misiones

He inaugurated the traveling exhibition of the 2018 National Painting Prize at the Museum of the Faculty of Art and Design (FAyD) of the National University of Misiones (UNAM).

The traveling exhibition made up of the selected works of the 2018 National Painting Prize opens on Wednesday, August 7 at 8 p.m. at the Museum of the Faculty of Art and Design (FAyD) of the National University of Misiones (UNAM). It can be visited at Carhué 832, Oberá, until September 14.

Under the slogan Art belongs to you, the exhibition proposes a tour with works by established and emerging, traditional and groundbreaking artists that invite dialogue by promoting inclusive access that brings the artistic heritage of the institution closer to the community, as the heritage of all Argentines.

The XI edition of the Prize recognized Margarita Paksa with the Grand Tribute Prize for her work The City Belongs to You II. The First Acquisition Prize went to Diego Alejandro Vergara for his work Untitled, the Second Acquisition Prize went to Mariana Ferrari with her work Dos and the Third Acquisition Prize, to Milton Hernán Kalbermatter for his work Fuerte y lento.

In the category of Encouragement for People Under 35 years of age, the First Acquisition Prize was awarded to Valentina Ansaldi for her work Yeruá, the Second Acquisition Prize went to Carlos Cima for Nunca me invitaron, no sé si voy a ir, and the Third Acquisition Prize went to Tiziana Pierri for La invitada.

In this edition of the Banco Central National Painting Prize, the jury was composed of Marisa Baldasarre, Jimena Ferreiro, Nancy Rojas, Pablo Siquier and Eduardo Stupía, with the curatorship of Eva Grinstein. More than 600 artists from all over the country were presented, from which 26 finalist works were selected. The winning works become part of the Central Bank’s pictorial collection.

The traveling exhibition arises as an initiative of federal scope that contributes to promoting the circulation and visibility of the work of Argentine artists, fostering their link with the community.
