The BCRA received an honorable mention for its contribution to the compliance of the Law on Freedom of Information within the framework of the 2019 The Right to Know award.
The Freedom of Information Agency and the School of Law of Universidad de Buenos Aires organized an event to celebrate the International Day for Access to Information, where the Ministry of Defense obtained the First Award for its commitment to the compliance of the Law on Freedom of Information, and the BCRA received an honorable mention.
Eduardo Bertoni, Director of the Freedom of Information Agency, gave the mention to María del Carmen Bernini who, jointly with Fabián Arregui, is responsible for dealing with requests for information. María del Carmen Urquiza headed the team in charge of handling requests under the Law on Freedom of Information until August 2019. At present the team is composed by Sonia Perciavalle, Julián Giglio Santamaría, Adriana Brest, Vanina Chavarría and María Laura Pereyra.
During the event, a great deal of requests for information were submitted to different thematic panels—attended by officers from the Executive Branch, the Legislative Branch, the Judicial Branch, and state-owned enterprises, just to mention a few.
Law 27,275 defines public information as any information bound parties may create, obtain, control, transform or keep. Pursuant to the provisions set forth in Section 7 (o) of this law, the BCRA is an authority bound to provide public information.
