The Central Bank participates in “The Night of the Museums”

The Central Bank Museum opens its doors with proposals to discover and learn about the coins and banknotes of our country.

On Saturday, November 2, the Central Bank Museum opens its doors with a special agenda to bring the history of the Argentine currency closer to the whole family and have fun regardless of age.

With free admission, between 8 p.m. and 3 a.m. there will be various proposals to discover and learn about the coins and banknotes of our country, artistic installations with space images, talks about underwater treasures and more.

Among the activities proposed by the Museum, you will be able to enjoy:

• Guided tours about the Argentine currency and means of payment from the native peoples to the present day.

• Tour of the exhibition “Maritime Adventures” that presents coins from the sixteenth to the nineteenth century, alluding to the rise and expansion of the viceregal currency through maritime trade routes.

• Live the experience “Looking at the stars”, an installation based on the technology of the artist Margarita Bali, a reference in the multidisciplinary work of dance, video and visual arts.

• Mint medals as if they were coins.

• Learn about underwater archaeology and shipwrecks in the talks given by researchers from Conicet and the National Institute of Anthropology and Latin American Thought at 8, 9, 10 p.m. and 11 p.m.

• Play a treasure hunt around the Museum to discover the clues that complete the map.

• Listen to the choir of the Central Bank with a repertoire of popular and classical music.

All the activities will be held at the headquarters of the Central Bank Museum, San Martín 216, CABA, which is part of the circuit near Plaza de Mayo with other museums such as Banco Provincia, Banco Nación, AFIP and CCK.

The 16th edition of The Night of the Museums offers the opportunity to approach and tour the cultural spaces of the City with extended hours.

The Central Bank Museum has the most valuable and complete public collection of Argentine coins, totaling more than 20,000 pieces. The Museum exhibits and safeguards the series of Argentine and Latin American coins that circulated in the country from the mid-sixteenth century. The collection also includes national, provincial and private banknotes, technical elements for the manufacture of monetary values used in various periods and an archive of historical documents.

When is Museum Night?

The Night of the Museums is on Saturday, November 2 in the city of Buenos Aires, from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m.

What to see in The Night of the Museums?

During the opening hours of the Night of the Museums you can visit different cultural centers and museums. At the Central Bank Museum, you can see historic coins and banknotes, an exhibition on underwater treasures, an art installation, play a treasure hunt, and much more.

Where to go on Museum Night?

The Central Bank Museum is within the circuit of museums in the center and microcenter, with easy access by public transportation. In addition, taking advantage of the fact that you are in the area, you can walk to other museums such as Banco Provincia, Banco Nación, AFIP and CCK.
