The Governor of the BCRA, was honored with the distinction of Professor Honoris Causa by École des Hautes Études Commerciales (HEC Paris), in a ceremony held today at the business school’s head office in Paris, France.
Founded in 1881 by the Paris Clamber of Commerce, the HEC Paris is the second largest business school in Europe and each year welcomes 4,000 students and 8,500 executives who receive educational programs aimed at leadership in various fields.
Sturzenegger has been a visiting professor at HEC Paris for several years and he was at the university this week to teach an intensive course in international finance.
The Governor of the BCRA has also developed an intense academic activity abroad at other prestigious institutions, such as the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) and Harvard University’s School of Government.
Dean Jacques Olivier highlighted Sturzenegger’s academic contributions in the field of international finance and the study of exchange rate regimes; in business, where he emphasized his time at Banco Ciudad (management that merited a Harvard case study); in teaching, from his experience at HEC; and in economic policy, in his recent role as Governor of the BCRA.
“I am touched by the honor conferred upon me by the HEC,” said Sturzenegger.
During the ceremony, he delivered a lecture entitled “Seeing the Invisible: How science can help you see things differently”.
