In the light of a WhatsApp message that is circulating in the BCRA’s name, we inform that it has not been sent by this Institution and that the BCRA does not have an official profile for that app.
The official communication channels are our website and the social media profiles announced here.
In case you receive it, we recommend you immediately remove it as this is a case of smishing (from SMiShing, SMS and phishing), i.e., a text message or a message from any messaging app in your mobile phone asking you to provide information by cheating.
How to avoid becoming a victim of a smishing scam
– Do not click on links, answer unknown text messages or call back unknown phone numbers.
– Do not answer, even if the message asks you to send a “STOP” message to end the delivery of messages.
– Remove all unconvincing text messages.
– Make sure that the operating system and the security apps of your smartphone are updated to the latest version.
– Consider downloading an antivirus in your device for more security.
– Refrain from downloading apps from non-official websites.
These recommendations also apply to phishing, a seemingly genuine email that is used to deceive the addressee and make it provide personal data.
