The initiative 3.0 Transfers, launched by the BCRA, has been a success. Interoperable QR transactions increased 40.77% in the first week, reaching 141,636 total transactions in five days. Efficient and prompt integration between electronic wallets and acceptors was achieved.
On November 29, the first day the standardized QR system was fully operational, 22,586 transactions were carried out, and by December 3, the figure had already risen to 34,463. According to data collected by the BCRA, payments by transfer are at their peak between 5 pm and 8 pm.
3.0 Transfers creates a digital, open and universal ecosystem of payments. It is an innovative system that facilitates access to digital payments. Users will be able to make payments by reading QR codes with any electronic wallet or bank app on their phones, transferring funds from bank accounts using a single banking code (CBU) and from payment service provider accounts using a single virtual code (CVU).
Payments by transfer are accessible, efficient and safe, avoiding the use of cash or debit cards.
This new open and universal ecosystem implemented by the BCRA also boosts competition among the players in the system, thus resulting in better conditions for users and shops.
