The Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (BCRA) decided to prohibit the use of interbank direct debit and recurring immediate debit (DEBIN) for the collection of any concept related to loans. These financial tools remain in place for all other utility payments and taxes.
The instrument that can be used for collections linked to loans is the “DEBIN spot”, which requires express authorization from the receiving customer prior to making each debit.
Through Communication A6909, issued today, the Central Bank also established that when a customer requests the reversal of a direct debit, the entity originating that debit may not reject the request under any circumstances and must unfailingly process it regardless of the amount within 72 business hours.
Beyond these new measures, customers maintain the possibility of cancelling a direct debit at their own bank, without the need to contact the collection company or the receiving entity. Even when they have been adhered to by CBU. There also does not need to be a specific reason for the leave.
In line with other regulations already promoted, the Central Bank prioritizes the protection of the rights of users of financial services.
