Options to cancel or manage automatic debits to bank accounts

Monday, February 10, 2020

With the sole decision of the financial users, the automatic debit in their bank account can be cancelled.

Given the growing volume of inquiries received, the BCRA considers it appropriate to review the options available to users of financial services who wish to cancel or manage an automatic debit in their bank account, quickly and easily.

Automatic debit procedures can be done directly through your own bank, it is not necessary to contact the collection company or the receiving entity, even when they have been adhered to by CBU. Nor is there a need for a specific reason, the sole decision by the user is enough for the bank to proceed with the requirement.

Therefore, a user may, through the entity in which he or she has the account, cancel the adhesion for each automatic debit, definitively and unilaterally, as stated in point 3.1.3 subsection ii) of the Harmonized Text of the National Payment System – Direct Debits.
