BCRA to relaunch the Ensayos Económicos journal

Thursday, February 6, 2020

This publication, with an over 23-year existence, seeks to consolidate an environment for dialog among different schools of economic thought.

The BCRA is about to relaunch, within the framework of its 85th anniversary, the Ensayos Económicos (Economic Essays) journal—a publication of theoretical and empirical economic papers, and papers of applied policy,— which deals with both the Argentine and international economy.

At this new stage, the journal seeks to serve as a consolidated plural forum, promoting dialogue among different schools of economic thought, ultimately contributing to devise and assess policies to face the challenges posed by the Argentine economy in its process for development.

The Ensayos Económicos journal, with a history of more than 23 years, was published from 1977 to 1990 and, later on, from 2006 to 2016.

It has been widely distributed among local and foreign academic fields, government agencies, central banks, public and private research organizations and the specialized press. Ensayos Económicos is indexed by a series of economic publication databases, namely: Núcleo Básico de Revistas Científicas Argentinas (Central Database of Argentine Scientific Journals) of the CONICET; EconLit (American Economic Association); and RePEc (IDEAS and EconPapers).

Call for submission of papers

Within the framework of the relaunch of the journal, interested people are invited to send their academic papers to be published in Ensayos Económicos, thus contributing to uplift the discussion about economics and economic policy in Argentina.

Papers will be selected through a (blind) peer review process, which is similar to that conducted by most journals. Germán Feldman, Economic Research Deputy General Manager of the BCRA, will be the editor of Ensayos Económicos.

The editorial committee will be made up of Jorge Carrera (BCRA, CONICET, UNLP), Eugenia Correa (UNAM), Ariel Dvoskin (CONICET, UNSAM), Paula Español (UBA), Emiliano Libman (UBA, UNSAM), Carlos Medeiros (UFRJ), Florencia Medici (UNM), Esteban Pérez Caldentey (CEPAL), Daniela Prates (Unicamp) and Matías Vernengo (Bucknell University). Federico Grillo (BCRA) will be the executive secretary.
