Under Communication A 6958, the BCRA established how financial institutions must provide their in-person banking services as from April 13.
Clients will be allowed to attend a bank branch on specified days of the week according to a schedule based on the last digit of their identity document (DNI) in the case of natural persons and the last digit of their taxpayer identification code (CUIT) in the case of legal persons.
April 13: DNI ending in 0 and 1;
April 14: DNI ending in 2 and 3;
April 15: DNI ending in 4 and 5;
April 16: DNI ending in 6 and 7;
April 17: DNI ending in 8 and 9.
In order to attend a bank branch clients are required to book an appointment in advance through an electronic channel (online banking, phone or email).
Such appointment will be requested for entry into the bank and will also serve as a circulation permit.
FF
Financial institutions must make electronic channels available to their clients to book appointments as from April 8.
Clients will be able to carry out administrative procedures only (such as obtaining cards, signing documents, and accessing safe-deposit boxes). There will not be over-the-counter services to make deposits, payments or withdrawals.
Payments and deposits may be carried out through ATMs, self-services terminals, payment drop boxes, and cash-in-transit companies.
The collection of retirement and pension payments included in the Argentine Integrated Social Security System (Sistema Integrado Previsional Argentino, SIPA) will be as scheduled by the Argentine Social Security Administration (Administración Nacional de la Seguridad Social, ANSES) or the relevant paying agent. No appointment is required.
Over-the-counter transactions are limited to retirement and pension payments only.
Banks will extend their business hours and must strictly comply with safety and hygiene standards to preserve the health of clients and bank workers.
Non-financial credit and purchase card companies and other non-financial credit providers must open their branches to the public between April 13 and 17, under the same scheme as banks. Clients who are beneficiaries of retirement and pension payments must also make an appointment in advance to attend a branch.
Foreign exchange houses will not be open to the public. They may only operate remotely.
