People with residence in the country who still remain abroad can carry out the following operations anywhere in the world within the framework of the regulations of the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic.
• Consume goods and services with the funds available in the customer’s local accounts in foreign currency or pesos using the debit card.
The decision of whether this consumption is debited from the savings account in pesos or from an account in foreign currency depends on each customer, who can choose it on their bank’s website or at the time of purchase.
• Withdraw foreign currency in cash for up to the funds available in your local foreign currency accounts using the debit card.
The available funds can be increased by making exchange purchases through home banking within the regulatory limits provided (US$ 200 per month per person), transfers in foreign currency from other own accounts or third-party accounts, etc.
• Withdraw foreign currency in cash with debit in your local accounts in pesos using the debit card.
A withdrawal with debit in the account in pesos is a purchase of foreign currency by the resident that can be computed for the purposes of the limit of US$ 200 per month per person.
• Consume goods and services with local credit cards and/or purchase up to the limit granted by the issuer of the respective card.
• Withdraw cash with local credit cards and/or purchases up to a maximum amount of US$ 200 in non-bordering countries and US$ 50 in neighboring countries. This amount is an advance from the issuer of the respective card and is subject to the corresponding financial costs.
This limit is per transaction, being able to carry out as many operations as the maximum amount of cash advances set for the credit card and/or purchase allows.
• Receive, in remittance accounts abroad, funds transferred by other residents from local accounts in foreign currency. Originators will be able to transfer up to US$ 500 per calendar month. This option must be offered to their customers by financial institutions through their electronic channels.
Outside the provisions of the BCRA, these operations may be subject to operational restrictions established by international payment systems or by the rules of the country where the operation is carried out.
