Miguel Ángel Pesce

Miguel Ángel Pesce has served as president of the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic since December 2019. He has a degree in Economics, graduated from the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the University of Buenos Aires (1981-1987).
Pesce was president of the Bank of the Province of Tierra del Fuego (between 2015 and 2019), director at YPF S.A. (2019) and vice president of the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (BCRA), between 2004 and 2015. He was also president of the Trust Fund for the Reconstruction of Companies, representative of the Ministry of Economy and Production at the BCRA (between 2003 and 2004) and Minister of Economy, of the Federal Intervention, in Santiago del Estero, in 2004. In that same year he was general syndic of the Nation. In the City of Buenos Aires, he was Secretary of Treasury and Finance (between 2001 and 2003) and Undersecretary of Financial Management and Administration (from 1998 to 2001). In the Chamber of Deputies of the Nation, he was an advisor in the Finance and Budget and Finance Commissions (1984-1989).

Adrián Armas

Adrián Armas has been the Central Manager of Economic Studies at the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP) since March 2008. Between December 2017 and October 2018, Mr. Armas held the position of Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the Southern Cone Jurisdiction. Previously, he served as manager of Economic Studies (August 2005 – February 2008), deputy manager of the Monetary Sector (September 1997 – August 2005) and head of the Department of Financial Analysis and Programming (February 1995 – August 1997) of the same Management. He was also an analyst in this department (April 1992 – February 1995) and in the External Sector Analysis department (August 1986 – August 1990).He joined the BCRP in August 1986 as an analyst in the Department of External Sector Analysis, after having held second place in the XXXIII Annual University Extension Course of the BCRP.He has taken several courses abroad, has a Master’s degree in Economics from Boston University, USA (1992) and completed his undergraduate studies at the Universidad del Pacífico, Peru (1986).
He has experience as a university professor and has represented the Bank at national and international conferences on macroeconomic and central banking issues and is the author of numerous monetary policy publications. He published the book “Financial Dollarization: The Policy Agenda” which he edited with Alain Ize of the IMF and Eduardo Levy Yeyati of the Torcuato Di Tella University.

Gerardo Licandro

Gerardo Licandro is manager of Economic Advisory at the Central Bank of Uruguay. He is an economist from the University of the Republic of Uruguay, and holds a master’s degree and doctorate in Economics from the University of California, USA. Before assuming his current position, he worked as manager of Economic Research, head of the Department of Studies of the Central Bank of Uruguay and senior economist of the Department of Studies of the same institution. Among his academic activities, he has been a professor at the University of the Republic of Uruguay, the University of Montevideo, the ORT University and the Catholic University of Uruguay. He currently works as a professor of Monetary Economics at the University of Montevideo. He has researched and published several articles and books on monetary policy and financial issues.

Rolando Sergio Colque Soldado

Rolando Sergio Colque Soldado is a senior advisor on Economic Policy at the Central Bank of Bolivia (BCB). He holds a master’s degree in Economics from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, a degree in Economics from the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés (Bolivia), a diploma in Applied Quantitative Economics from the Military School of Engineering (Bolivia) and a diploma in Financial Business Administration from the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés.
In the professional field, he was head of the Public Debt Unit (between 2012 and 2016) and general director of Public Credit (between 2017 and 2018) at the Ministry of Economy and Public Finance. He served as an analyst in the following State portfolios: Ministry of Finance (2006) and the Vice Ministry of Finance (2007). He was also an Internal and External Debt professional at the Ministry of Finance (between 2007 and 2009), a Debt analysis professional at the Ministry of Economy and Public Finance (2011), a Planning professional at the Ministry of Justice and Institutional Transparency (between 2019 and 2020) and manager of Financial Institutions at the BCB (between 2021 and 2022).
He taught at the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés, the Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar (Bolivia) and the Universidad Tecnológica Boliviana in the areas of Econometrics, Statistics and Probabilities, General Economics and Macroeconomics, among others. It presents numerous academic works and articles in different fields: versions of the Meeting of Economists of Bolivia, newspapers of national and institutional circulation and programs organized by the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.

Germán Feldman

He holds a degree in Economics from the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina), a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of San Andrés (Argentina) and a PhD in Economics from the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität (Frankfurt am Main, Germany).
Deputy General Manager of Economic Research of the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (BCRA) since January, 2020. Prior to his current position at the Bank, he was a member of the Board of Directors (2013-2016) and Superintendent of Financial and Exchange Institutions (2014-2015). Prior to his time at the Central Bank, he was an advisor in the Undersecretariat of Macroeconomic Programming of the Ministry of Economy of the Nation (2012-2013).
Author of numerous academic works in the field of Macroeconomics, Monetary Policy and Economic Development, he serves as a regular adjunct professor at the Arturo Jauretche National University (Argentina) and as coordinator of the Macroeconomics and Development Financing orientation of the Master’s Degree in Economic Development of the Interdisciplinary School of Higher Social Studies (Argentina), where he is also a professor of Macroeconomics.

Mario Cimoli

Mario Cimoli is an associate professor at the Institute of Economics at the School of Advanced Studies in Sant’Anna, Pisa, Italy.
Previously, he was Professor of Economics at the University of Venice, Italy (1992-2018). Between 2017-2022 he was deputy executive secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC). In this institution, since 1999 he has served as Economic Affairs Officer, head of the Innovation and Digital Technologies Unit, director of the Productive and Business Development Division and Officer in Charge of the International Trade and Integration Division. He holds a PhD from the University of Sussex (UK) and numerous publications in specialized academic journals.

Bertram Schefold

Bertram Schefold, born in 1943 in Basel (Switzerland), studied in Munich, Hamburg and Basel from 1962 to 1967 and obtained diplomas in Mathematics, Physics and Philosophy. After pursuing doctoral studies at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, and Basel, he obtained his PhD in Economics in 1971. He served as a research associate at Harvard University, USA, and became a full professor at the Faculty of Economics of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University, Germany, in 1974, maintaining his position as a senior professor there since 2012. He was appointed Theodor Heuss-Professor at the New School for Social Research, New York, in 1984, among other appointments. He has published more than 40 books and 300 articles on economic theory, history of economic thought, energy policy and general economic policy.
Bertram Schefold received honorary doctorates from the Universities of Tübingen and Macerata, the Thomas-Guggenheim Prize and was appointed Honorary Professor at Peking University (2019). He is honorary president of the European Society for the History of Economic Thought (2004).

Beltrán de Ramón

Beltrán de Ramón has been general manager of the Central Bank of Chile since July 2021. De Ramón holds a degree in Business Administration from the Catholic University with a major in Economics, and a Diploma in Corporate Governance from the same university. In 2005 he joined the Central Bank as manager of National Financial Markets. Between January 2008 and June 2021, he served as manager of the Financial Markets division.
Before joining the Central Bank of Chile, he held the position of head of the Public Finance division of the Budget Directorate of the Ministry of Finance. He also represented the Ministry of Finance as an Advisor to the Public Enterprise System and was director of the National Mining Company.
Between 1990 and 2002, he held the positions of financial analyst and head of treasury at Copec S.A.

José Cantero Sienra

Current president of the Central Bank of Paraguay for the period 2018-2023. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank between 2017 and 2018. He is a university professor, with a career in the public and private sectors, and has held management and leadership positions. He holds a degree in Political Science and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Kansas, USA, and a Master’s degree in International Finance and Economic Policy from the University of Illinois, USA.
He is the author of books on economic history, economics and critical thinking.

Ásgeir Jónsson

Ásgeir Jónsson has been governor of the Central Bank of Iceland since August 2019. Previously, he held the position of Director of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Iceland, having extensive experience in the public and financial sector. Born in 1970, Governor Jónsson earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Iceland and a doctorate in economics from Indiana University, USA. His main areas of interest are monetary policy in open economies, international finance and economic history.
He has authored a number of scholarly articles and books on monetary policy, economic history, and other economic matters, and has also written numerous articles for public consumption, as well as policy briefs. He has also served as an advisor in the public and private sectors, and has chaired several policy committees.
In addition, he has published two academic books abroad on the 2008 Icelandic banking crisis, its causes, and the post-crisis collapse and reconstruction of the financial sector.
