MERCOSUR

BCRA - Commemorative Coin 40 years of Democracy
On March 26, 1991, the Argentine Republic, together with the Federative Republic of Brazil, the Republic of Paraguay and the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, constituted the Southern Common Market, with the aim of forming an economic space as of December 31, 1994, where the circulation of goods, services and productive factors between their respective nations would be free.

In this context, in 1998, in reference to the Pro Tempore Presidency of the Argentine Republic, two circulation quality coins were issued with a value of $1 (one PESO) and $0.50 (fifty cents), both with characteristics similar to those currently in force.

Both coins are presented loosely, and in cardboard cases where a brief historical review is read, and the characteristics and specifications of the minted pieces. 3,500 cases numbered from 1 to 3,500 were made, containing both pieces.
