Commemorative of General Martín Miguel de Güemes
The “Gaucho Hero”, as he was called, knew how to be above all petty quarrels. He was clearly in favor of the institutional organization of the country and was a defender of the Freedom and Independence of the Argentine provinces until his death, which occurred on June 17, 1821 in his native province.
To honor his memory, this Central Bank has resolved to issue a circulation-quality coin whose characteristics are similar to those currently in progress, and a “brilliant uncirculated” quality Gold coin. It should be noted that it is the first minting of gold coins made by the Sociedad del Estado Casa de Moneda de Argentina after 104 years, which is a historic event.
Part of the pieces minted in circulation quality, 5,000, are presented in cardboard cases with a brief biography and characteristics of the issue. The coins included in this type of case have a particularity, they have a grooved edge, on the other hand, those that are presented in loose, smooth edge form.
