Centennial of the Foundation of Comodoro Rivadavia

Centennial of the Foundation of Comodoro Rivadavia

Comodoro Rivadavia, port of departure for agricultural products produced in the interior of the territory, was just a village on the shores of the Atlantic, until in 1907, the discovery of oil changed its history and a cosmopolitan life, full of strength and energy, began to take shape on the edge of the Patagonian desert.

One hundred years after its foundation, this Central Bank joins the celebrations with the issuance of a commemorative gold coin of “brilliant uncirculated” quality.

The design was prepared by a team of professionals from that City, made up of Silvia Brun and Laura de la Torre and visual designers Verónica Godoy, Gerardo Hayes, Liliana Madueño, Verónica Quercia and Javier Rubina; who considered “OIL, WIND, SEA AND LAND”, as “ENERGY”, common denominator and characteristic resource of the place, which amalgamates different cultures, from different parts of the world and even from different parts of the country. They wanted to represent the breadth of the landscape and growth as an idea of progress.

These pieces were minted at the Sociedad del Estado Casa de Moneda de Argentina, and the engravers of banknotes and coins Mrs. Mónica Patricia Galera and Mr. Juan Domingo Castillo intervened.
