Carry out bibliographic consultations in the Libraries

Request information and bibliographic guidance from the Libraries of the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (BCRA), by email or by attending in person with prior appointment at the headquarters of Reconquista 266, Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.

What is it?

It is the procedure for making bibliographic queries to the Libraries of the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (BCRA), either to locate material, receive guidance on sources of information or coordinate access to the collections and resources available.

The Libraries provide personalized attention by email or in person, with prior appointment, at the headquarters of the Central Bank at Reconquista 266, Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.

– people interested in topics of economics, finance, banking, economic history and related disciplines;
– researchers, teachers, students and professionals who require support in bibliographic searches;
– the general public who need to consult material available in the BCRA Libraries.

Face-to-face: personalized attention at the BCRA Libraries, with prior appointment, at the headquarters of Reconquista 266, Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.

What is needed?

To carry out a bibliographic consultation or request an appointment, it is recommended to have:

  • – topic or subject matter of interest (e.g. banking regulations, economic history, statistics, financial law);
    – basic data of the publications to be located, if known (author, title, year, journal or publisher);
  • – contact email address;
    – In case of face-to-face attendance, time availability to coordinate the shift.

How is it done?

1. Make a bibliographic query by email

– Compose an email to biblio@bcra.gob.ar indicating:

  • – first and last name;
    – Topic or subject of the consultation;
    – type of material being searched (books, articles, periodicals, databases, etc.);
  • – any additional information that facilitates the search (authors, titles, approximate dates).

– Send the email and keep the Library’s response, which will indicate the information located, search guidelines and, if applicable, the options to access the material (online or in the reading room).

2. Request an appointment for face-to-face attention

– Send an email to biblio@bcra.gob.ar indicating that you wish to request an appointment to make face-to-face consultations at the BCRA Libraries.

– Include in the message:

  • – first and last name;
    – reason for the consultation;
    – days and times of preference within the service slot (Monday to Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.);

– Wait for the confirmation of the appointment, where the following will be detailed:

  • – assigned date and time;
    – place of attention (Reconquista 266, Autonomous City of Buenos Aires);
    – Any additional requirements for entry to the venue.

– Present yourself on the date and time indicated to make the consultation in the reading room or with the library staff.

Additional information

The BCRA Libraries include the Dr. Raúl Prebisch Library, specialized in banking, economics, economic history, finance and related disciplines, and the Tornquist Library, with one of the most important collections in Argentine economic history.

They offer access to reading rooms and consultation of printed collections and electronic resources, as well as bibliographic search and reference services.
