2021 Seminar Series on Economics

The BCRA 2021 Seminar Series on Economics will begin on February 19. The first lecture will be given by Alfredo Schclarek Curutchet under the title “Foreign Exchange Risks and Balance of Payments Crisis in the Global Architecture for Financing Development” (Riesgos cambiarios y de crisis de balanza de pagos en la arquitectura global del financiamiento para el desarrollo). The seminar will be broadcast live on the YouTube channel of the BCRA from 3.30 p.m. to 5.00 p.m.

The Seminar Series on Economics are organized by the Economic Research Deputy General Management Office of the BCRA, headed by Germán Feldman. They, along with the relaunch of the Money and Banking Conference, the “Dr. Raúl Prebisch” Economic Research Annual Award, and the academic journal called Ensayos Económicos are part of the actions taken since the beginning of 2020 to strengthen the BCRA´s academic profile.

Speaker

Schclarek Curutchet is an Associate Researcher at the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas, CONICET), and an Associate Professor at the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (undergraduate and graduate courses on macroeconomics). He holds a PhD in Economics from Lund University (Sweden). He has been awarded several prizes, such as the 2007 edition of the “Dr. Raúl Prebisch” Economic Research Annual Award in the Young Professionals category. In addition, he has authored several academic papers in the Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Financial Stability and Journal of Macroeconomics, among other journals.
