Financial Institutions May Carry Out Securities-Backed Transactions

The Board of the BCRA has established that financial institutions may raise funds in pesos against securities recorded in the stock exchange and capital markets regulated by the National Securities Commission (Comisión Nacional de Valores, CNV).

Moreover, the Board has set the benchmark rate for mutual funds at 85% of the rate payable to financial institutions. This measure is applicable since January 27, and improves the pass-through of the benchmark rate set by the Board of the BCRA to the short-term rates throughout the financial system.
