The BCRA Has Launched the First API that Simplifies Access to Information

The BCRA has developed and released the application programming interface (API) for the main variables. This first series will be part of a catalog that will provide efficient access to the information produced by the BCRA, in accordance with the best available technology.

The API is a set of rules and protocols that enables software programs and applications to share information. The API is free and open to the public. It is designed to be easily operated in a variety of platforms and systems. In addition, it can be used in website construction and in business applications and systems. Downloading and accessing information can be efficiently automated, thus, reducing costs and simplifying access to further data available for decision makers such as analysts, business people and financial advisors.

This is an important step towards open finance, a global trend that helps to improve the flow of information in the financial system, thus, achieving greater inclusion and transparency, and strengthening data interoperability with public agencies.

The BCRA will continue to expand this service to facilitate the integration and creation of new developments. The next available APIs will be Exchange rates, Bounced checks, and Debtors' database.
