Call for Submissions for the “Dr. Raúl Prebisch” Economic Research Award

The BCRA has launched a call for submissions for the 15th edition of the "Dr. Raúl Prebisch" Economic Research Annual Award. Students, young professionals, and professionals with a PhD degree in economics are invited to participate.

The Economic Research Award is granted by the BCRA and aims to stimulate scientific and academic progress, and to promote research on monetary, macroeconomic, financial and banking topics. The award is named after one of the most outstanding economists in Argentine history.

Papers may be submitted through July 31, 2023.

• University Students: students of Economics or related studies at public or private universities throughout the country.

• Young Professionals: with no more than five years as graduates in Economics or related studies.

• Professionals with a PhD Degree in Economics: theses should be written by graduates from Argentine universities and passed in 2021, 2022 or 2023.

Papers should be submitted attached to a registration form that will be posted on the BCRA's website in the coming days. The awarded papers will be posted on the award section of the BCRA's website and will be considered for publication in the BCRA’s academic journal Ensayos Económicos (Economic Essays).

About Dr. Raúl Prebisch

Dr. Prebisch was one of the leading figures to promote the bill that created the BCRA in 1935 and was the first General Manager until 1943. He was a pioneer of the Latin American structuralist thought within the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC). By the end of the 1940s, he created a number of economic categories which are still essential to understand the challenges that our economies face today.
