How to Open a Special Account for Asset Regularization

To join the Asset Regularization Regime, it is mandatory to open a special account for asset regularization (cuenta especial de regularización de activos, CERA) to deposit the relevant funds—in pesos or foreign currency—whether held in Argentina or abroad.

Here is everything you need to know about CERA

- Procedure: The account can be opened at the bank of your choice through online banking or remotely if approved by the bank.

- Transfers and deposits: Customers may receive transfers or deposit funds in cash. Transfers from abroad must come only from the customers’ own accounts.

- Currency: Balances will be kept in the currency deposited.

- Investments: The funds deposited may be invested as set out in the Asset Regularization Regime.

- Fees: Financial institutions may charge fees for account maintenance. Fees cannot be higher than the fees on savings accounts or special current accounts in dollars for legal persons.

- Closure: Once the deadlines set forth in the Asset Regularization Regime are met, institutions must close the special acc

ount. If there is available balance, it will be deposited in another account in the name of the customer.
